Taxpayers

  • Do you have a tax site in my area? When are your sites open?
All locations and hours can be found on the Locations page or by calling United Way 211 (dial 2-1-1). We also offer online filing so you can file from any computer with access to the internet.
  • What do I need to have my taxes prepared?
Our What to Bring list contains all the items required to have your taxes prepared in-person. Our online service has a Tax Checklist to help you prepare. Both services require that you file a simple 1040 or 1040 EZ return. If you are unsure about the type of return you need to file, visit www.irs.gov or call 1-800-829-1040 for more information.
  • What are the income limits to receive free tax preparation?
The adjusted gross income limit to file online is $58,000 and the in-person limit is $52,000. This limit is per return not per person, so the limit it the same whether you file individually or jointly.
  • Is there an age limit?
There are no age requirements or restrictions to receive in-person or online tax preparation.
  • I have another question about taxes
If you have questions about claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit, filing your Federal tax return or arranging for Direct Deposit of your refund, go to www.irs.gov or call 1-800-829-1040.
