Resolves serious legal problems to help families and individuals obtain economic and family stability by providing legal representation, information, advice, and referrals for low income individuals in need.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Consumer Protection)

The CFPB works to: Educate because an informed consumer is the first line of defense against abusive practices, Enforce federal consumer financial laws because the CFPB supervises banks, credit unions, and other financial companies; and Study, gather, and analyze available information to better understand consumers, financial services providers, and consumer financial markets.

Ohio Attorney General’s Consumer Protection (Consumer Protection)

The Consumer Protection Section protects Ohioans from predatory and illegal business practices. Consumer Protection works to protect Ohio consumers by conducting local and state investigations and by joining multi-state and federal investigations. Through cooperating with federal and other state authorities, the section has achieved landmark settlements and won millions of dollars in civil penalties and restitution for Ohioans.

Cincinnati Better Business Bureau (Consumer Protection)

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a non-profit organization focused on advancing marketplace trust. The BBB collects and provides free business reliability reviews on businesses and requests from consumers. The BBB serves as an intermediary between consumers and businesses, handling consumer disputes against businesses. They also alert the public to scams, reviews advertising, and assists when donating to charity.

Hamilton County Coalition to Stop Fraud, Scams, & Abuse (Consumer Protection)

Consumer fraud, identity theft and scams are widespread crimes that affect millions every year. But the current economic downturn has exacerbated the problem and created consumers that are more financially vulnerable than ever. Criminals often take advantage of these difficult economic times and exploit consumers in various fraudulent ploys, that cost consumers and their families to lose hundreds of millions of dollars every year. As a result, we want to help Hamilton County residents learn how to stop fraud and scams by: 1) identifying potential fraud or scams, 2) learning how to protect yourself, and 3) reporting an instance of fraud should you become a victim.
