In 2016, more than 21,000 local families received over $23 million in tax refunds. It’s easy, fast, and free. Here’s how:

United Way sponsors the program and offers a free Help Line for MyFreeTaxes Users:
1-855-MY-TX-HELP (1-855-698-9435)
Use this service if you are:

  • Comfortable with computers (if you use facebook or shop online, you can use this system.)
  • Earn less than $64,000/year.

MyFreeTaxes provides free state and federal tax preparation for qualified individuals. You can work from home, or from a library or computer lab.  MyFreeTaxes is offered by United Way and powered by H&R Block.

page1Trained, certified volunteers offer in-person help to file your taxes at sites throughout the community.  Sites are open January-April.

Use this service if you are:

  • Household income under $56,000
  • Working, retired,  disabled or unemployed.
  • No rental income; simple investment income; not running your own business.
  • Most VITA sites can do your current and prior year taxes; check for details at your site.
  • Willing to be patient and to wait in line for the next available volunteer.
